Don't all cats have dander? They always say people are allergic to cat dander. Never noticed a cat needing Head and Shoulders though.

Ok, that can be warped too, can't it?

The dry air and diet causes the dander. I sprinkle a little olive oil on my cats dry food if its chicken based. The fish based dry food causes his coat to get too oily.

If you moved there in the past few months, I'd suspect stress. The majority of felines do not handle moving, diet changes, and/or kitty litter changes well, let alone their human changing normal routine behaviors. Their fur will shed more than usual, they may pace more, remain at more of a distance from their humans, or even not return for a few days, weeks, or permanently (if major life change like divorce or child moving out), or the may increase in dander.

My advice: pick a diet, kitty litter, & as stable a routine as possible & allow your cat to adjust. Consult a vet as well.

I have the same situation I will approaching on when I make the move from the East Coast to Vegas as well - a month from now. Exciting, yet stressful

Good luck!

OP, you've received some good advice pertaining to your cat adjusting to the desert climate. Please feel free to re-post your premise in the "Cats" sub-forum in the Pets Forum here at City-Data Forums. Thanks.
