It's a start:

Metro Police shift more resources to the Las Vegas Strip after recent murders - www.ktnv.com (http://www.ktnv.com/news/toprotator/125122614.html - broken link)

Bad economy = rise in crime (?)
Bad economy = fewer tourist dollars
Bad economy + rise in crime = even fewer tourist dollars

Glad to read that Metro will be reassigning some resources to the Strip.

those murders don't seem crime related(yes I know that is criminal activity)... they are just idiots fighting.

Not sure a tourist will see the distinction, or care. Extreme violence on the strip will scare away many. Especially those for whom violence is not a part of daily life.

I agree, violence is crime without a doubt.

These incidents on the Strip were all fueled by alcohol and too much testosterone escalating a small incident into a full blown homocide. Each incident on the Strip could have been avoided if words were just ignored. Most tourists are not looking for conflict when they are trying to have fun on vacation, so they are at much less risk, I'd say.

I see it every night at the nightclub I work in.
Never fails. They come in all nice and happy to be out partying. By 2am somebody is leaving with Metro.
Always over something so stupid.

I think the deaths where more gang related, then drunk tourists.
