I may be moving to Vegas, and I'll be flying in to Vegas this weekend to look at apartments. Time will be at a premium, so I'm hoping to get an idea about where I should be looking for apartments. I've been searching this forum for awhile, but all I can do is find a complex I'm interested in, then search to see what experiences all of you have had. Every time I think I found a place, I find more reasons to cross it off the list. So I'm hoping you can help narrow the choices down for me.

I want to hear about what apartment complex you are in, and why you like it (or don't like it for that matter). How long you've been there, what you like about the surrounding area, etc. are all helpful bits of info. This will help me narrow down my choices. For those who want to know, I'm looking for a 1br for around $900/mo. Room for a 35lb dog would be beneficial, but not critical. Location isn't important geographically, as I don't mind driving to work. I just need a clean, safe location with a decent selection of stores and restaurants.

Please! Help me!

we prefer condo rentals. you have an hoa, who oversees and has a vested interest in the maintenance.
overall, they seem to be nicer than apartments.

otoh, there are very nice, upscale, complexes. but they fee you to death.

just my opinion.

Which condo complex are you in? How did you initially find it?

$900? Another $100 and you can have a decent house(3/2/2).

What I love about my apartment complex is that many strippers live here.

I pay $600, all my neighbors are friendly. Maintenance is friendly and lives on sight. I'm right across the street from a well maintained park for my dogs with a jogging track and lots of GREEN. Pool is well kept and hardly used. AC is very efficient (Electric bill never tops $80 in the middle of the summer). I'm on a quiet side street but only minutes away from dozens of stores and 5-15 min away from the strip depending on traffic. No pet rent for me. Although they have now implemented it for new move ins (I'm grandfathered in and I've made it clear I'm not paying pet rent to any new management). I don't experience any crime although I know it does exist here and there just as it does all over the valley. My patio is surrounded by lush trees in an open courtyard. All in all, it fits the bill nicely. Especially for the price. Best of all, they don't accept section 8 vouchers! And yes, I asked this question at every apartment complex I looked at. If they said yes I turned around and left immediately.

i've gotten 2 condo rentals from Craigslist.
One was from the owner, one from a property management company.
Both are in summerlin.

CL requires a lot of due diligence.

Noting now that you have a dog, we are strongly against places that charge pet rent. Pet deposits are absolutely reasonable.

Depends on your financial situation....

good luck in finding your new home
