Today, the store I work at got scammed by a gentleman claiming he worked for the sushi restaurant in the same shopping mall.

He came in claiming that his brother owned the restaurant and handed our owner a business card and told him that they were short $80 for the delivery man. Well the owner gave him the money but walked him over to the restaurant to verify employment but as they approached it he took of for a car and jumped in the passenger side door.

After calling the police, they told us that this was not the first incident and had happened a couple of days ago to another store down the street.

The car was a green cruiser type of vehicle like a PT Cruiser, Chevy HHR or Dodge Caliber. License plate is 834WLA.

I want this to be merely a warning for other store owners to be aware of this.

This happened in the Summerlin area near Sahara and Durango.

Jeez, even the 2nd rate scammers have lost all creativity lately. Oh well, back to watching Jersey Shore...

Your boss should have called the sushi place first, before opening the till.

This sort of thing has been going on since currency was invented. I once watched a "change for a $20" scammer operate. It was really almost artistic. By the time he was done, he had roughly $98 dollars.

They fell for this? I would expect this scam to work in a small trusting town, but in Las Vegas?

In this day and age I hardly call this a scam. More like a mental lapse to give someone cash before verifying what it's for.

More like someone who had faith in humanity.

I have plenty of faith in humanity. I'm also not delusional though.

This is nothing new. Grifting is the second oldest profession in the history of mankind.
