I will be moving to Vegas sometime soon. I have lived the last 7 years in the Philippines. I now have a new wife and want to move back to the states. I had great credit when i left the states and have used my credit card some while here in the Philippines. I am just asking with all the changes in the way banks lend money, what would be the best way to get a good quick mortgage. I am a vet and have used VA loans in the past. I am 62, and would have no problem with a good down payment. I would like to buy in the $100,000 to $150,000 price range. Who would be the best company to get a Loan in Vegas???

You should not have a problem using the bank that you already have.

Good credit and a 20% down payment and you can go with anyone you want. I'd shop rates personally.

Lendingtree.com is a good place to start, but expect your phone to ring off the hook for WEEKS afterward.

I am a little surprised at the answers. All the news we get here in the Philippines makes it sound as if the banks just are not letting go of any money. thanks for the responses and look forward to moving back to the USA and looking forward to make friends in Vegas.

Wade,

The banks are total jerks, try looking up USAA, PenFed, and other similar services available to vets and armed forces members who should get the benefits of these credit unions in return for your service. Also a decent mortgage broker should be able to help you shop around for loans once you get here.

Wade,

With good credit getting VA financing should not be an issue. The problem you will encounter is when you begin to deal with the local den of thieves (aka realtors). Granted, real estate in general is a dirty game but you have some of the laziest belly crawlers in the nation here in Vegas.
If you don't believe me just have a look at some of their ads on Craigslist.

Good luck but even more important I wish you an abundance of patience (you'll need every ounce).

Wade,
Don't us Regions finanical Corp, they are very reluctant about VA loans, they felt the VA loans take to long to procress, we just lost a house we both really wanted. Regions gave the accepted another mush lower offer, because it didn't have a VA loan attached to it. The rejest our offer based on the extra two to three weeks a va loan takes. I am amazed that Regions Bank feels two weeks of the banks time is worth more than the 23 yrs. my husband put in the army. Regional is not Miltary friendly at all - Avoid them
