What Newspaper does everyone recomend subscribing to? I am moving in November and would like to get the local Sunday paper Mailed to me. The Detroit Free Press does this and I would like to see which Vegas papers will do this. I want a major paper. thanks again for your help. this will make house hunting easier I hope.

There is only the RJ (Review Journal). It contains its only competitior the Las Vegas Sun...that is it. You can also subscribe elctroncially.

I, by the way, have the LA Times delievered as well. Regularly reading the RJ causes the left side of your body to lose strength and your brain to atrophy.

RJ is pretty pathetic. You should def. supplement it with either the NY or LA times Sunday.

I'd much rather read the local weeklies (City Life and Las Vegas Weekly) than the Review Journal.

Ok, so I'll just stick with the Free Press for now and look into the LA times. I just wanted it early for the classifieds but I can get those online so I'll save my money. Thanks.

While no fan of the RJ there is no alternative. One must read the RJ to follow what goes on in Vegas. All the others are somebodies hobby. Commentary is not news.

For national and regional new the LA Times but the other weeklies etc. are jokes.

You can get what passes for news on line, but to get the twofer coupons ya gotta take the weekend RJ. We only get it on Fri., Sat., and Sun. Those coupons pay for the delivery, and not taking the other four days saves a tree somewhere.

The RJ gives you about as much information as a local news broadcast, but at least those don't leave your fingers black. Weeklies are not jokes - they provide the hard hitting stories that newspapers are afraid to report. They also provide superior A & E coverage, restaurant reviews as well as semi-pornographic full color ads. That's nothing to joke about!

In all seriousness, it's about demographics. Ole people may not be interested in the content of the weeklies, but that's because they're not intended for them. Otherwise they would list the local bingo schedules instead of nightclub listings, etc. Let's not pretend the world revolves around our specific interests and shoot down alternative opinions as "jokes". There's room for the young and ole to live in harmony.

Another pet peeve of mine: The Sunday RJ contains over a pound of store ads. I can't allow that into the house, or the wife will get the bright idea to spend all Sunday hitting the stores. They should pay me to take that paper. I get the NY times on Sunday instead, no bundle of ad inserts. Instead, I get a book review and the excellent NY times magazine - which suits me much better.
