So after going on several interviews I've realized that it's all just a joke...

The people conducting the interviews left me questioning what kind of screening process they themselves went through!

They're the first face of the company that a prospective employee sees. What I've seen so far were:

-Obese Latin chicks with way too much makeup.
-Secretaries using the office phones for quite loud personal conversations.
-Using "Spanglish" in the work place at supposedly upscale hotels/casinos.

I overheard the HR people using ghetto slang and speaking loud enough to be heard all over; ie "Pues mija, I had such a bad dream last night, I was all sweaty an **** when I wake up" "Oh, we necesita todo everything en Spanish coz you know so many people wanta job but don't know no English"

Some of my interviewers had on heels so high they could barely stand.
One was so mousy and quiet and shy and had her face glued to the computer screen that the 10 minute interview felt like torture.

Only bright side has been watching a hot chick in a short skirt and tight top jump up and down in high heels... I really have no idea what job she was interviewing for though!

On the not so bright side, I've seen individuals with zero English skills given jobs right up front and being fanwed over by HR people.

So tell me, what's up with all of the 3 tier interview bs when these are the kind of people working at some of these large hotels. Or when you to those hotels and notice the people working there aren't even all that.

It's tiring.... What's this city come to?

Dont feel bad that you did not get the job. The world still needs 7/11 cashiers.

I met a lot of HR people when I was with the State and never saw that.

Would it still be a joke if you got the job?

i have to agree with the op. i have seen Dept Heads say/do things that are questionable & unprofessional. and all you can do is keep trying.

what gets me, is those who ask you to come in for an interview or two. and then never send a follow up email to say, thanks, but no thanks. most do, some don't.

*shakes my head*

i went with my wife to one big strip casino hotel because she needed to sign her final docs before she was hired.
while we were waiting in that big room we saw 2 persons entering in the room and then chating in frendly way with HR personal there.
You could tell they know each other from before or they are friends.
After them other people started to come into room (maybe 15-20 total) and we realised they all have group interview for some positions in that hotel.
When they started to have group interview we left the room...
And guess what? After 7 days my wife told me those 2 guys were actually hired for her department, and they were hiring only 2 people!!!!

I went to one interview couple of months ago (casino/hotel in summerlin, guess which one? and interviewer was so unprofessional that i left the room in the middle of interview.
If they ask us to be professional and nice thay have to be same .

Other day i wanted to help my friend who applied for housekeeping position in one hotel but didnt speak english. (he is from europe)
HR lady said (and was very rude) that i can not help because they need people who understand english and she will be with him one on one without my help.
She conducted interview with him and of course he didnt pass.
while i was waiting in waiting room for him some latin /spanish people came and said in spanish they have interview and they dont speak english.
Lady at front desk called interview guy and he started conversation with them in spanish.
I got mad and started yelling at them that its discrimination against other people who dont speak spanish.
I dont want to tell you end of this story but i hope people at that HR office learned they lesson

Did you go Jean Claude Van Dame on their ass? Honestly, in my experience, real professionalism is about as rare as encountering a Liger in the wild. Large corporate companies want people they know they can push around and intimidate when push comes to shove. Having a brain makes them feel insecure and wonder if you will just leave soon after being hired.

What the hell has happened to Corporate America? I thank my lucky stars that I'm nearing the end of my career, instead of just starting out in this environment!

This current corporate environment is what we deserve for letting our kids play all those video games.

It's a little scary to me that future world leaders and presidents are mixed in there...somewhere!

@JFK
I think it is letting our kids get that MBA in the 80's.
