How is 89148 for living? Crime, proximity to colleges?

Feedback is appreciated.

No. Uh-uh.

I am done with that crime map. It doesn't make any sense. And since the methodology of compiling this data is unknown, I consider it suspect.

The only time the police have been dispatched to my area of Las Vegas in the last six months it was for "Disturbance, Other." It turned out to be a faulty alarm system.

Yet Capt. MLS's map has me living in an "orange - elevated" area.

How about this instead:

Crime Map - Las Vegas Sun

Plug in a zip code, and you can go through all the crimes for any time period from "past seven days" to "past year" block by block. It is far more accurate, and far more user friendly.

By this map, my area is considered safe, but don't loiter two miles west of my location. That squares nicely with my observation living here.

So try it out.

Makes it easy for all. 89012 has had 3 crimes since Oct 1. 89054 has had 5 crimes since Oct 1. 89134 has had 94...and 89129 has had almost 200.

Yup just what you need. Move to Henderson and there is no crime.

Not sure where you are but 89110 shows 300. 89156 shows 299. Maybe you should move to Henderson?

There's a crime map on Ch3 crime tracker as well as one on Metro's site I believe.

It's kinda away from the university area but it's got alot of what ppl need, shops, homes, and such.

Looks like we're set to look at mostly Henderson houses, a number in Anthem area and some in Southern Green Valley. My only question mark is airplane noise in Green Valley zip codes.

Scoop, thanks for the zip code by crime, I'll plug in some zips into it to see what comes up.

My only question with some Henderson properties is access to main roads, some of them are way out on the peripheral and are probably a good 6-8 mile haul to 15 or 215.

Interesting site. Seems to stop at 300 for a year and if there are more than that most likely doesn't report.

Are Green Valley and Anthem mostly gated communities? The reason I am asking is that most frequent crime seems to be burglary in both areas. We are set to see 3-4 houses in 89052, 1 in 89011, 1 in 89012 and 2-3 in 89074. All zips seem to be OK crime wise.

Not sure we'll look at anything in Summerlin or SW, for same money Henderson seems to offer better houses.
