-There is a noticeable temperature difference between Summerlin and the strip/Henderson of about 3-8 degrees (more noticeable on COLD nights)

3-8 degrees cooler than Hendrson/strip?

The Smiths grocery store and the commercial center is in the community of Peccole Ranch not Summerlin.

People pretty much refer to the entire west side (the nice parts) as Summerlin. It's in the general vicinity, so, whatever. You have Peccole Ranch, Boca Park, Spanish Trail, etc. but people just call it Summerlin.

Not worth arguing over, you know? Just like all the people that think they are going to get stabbed in North Las Vegas, not realizing that they were in NLV when they went to Winco last weekend.

About how long to get to grocery stores in CH? max travel time? I hate driving so far just to buy basic things.

CH to the strip about 20 to 40 min depends on traffic?

So anything you guys don't like about CH?

CH has most of its shopping either on Durango between the 215 and 95 or on Centennial Parkway near Ann.
Smiths, Kohls, Walmart, Target, Albertsons, Sam's Club, etc. are all within 5-8 minutes of CH residents.

If you live in Providence, the masterplanned community in CH, then you're slightly further since it's on the very northwest end, but only adds a minute or two.

I've never taken 40 minutes to the strip unless you're traveling there at the absolute worst time of rush hour. Any other time of day, 20-25 minutes door to door.

Only problem I personally have with the Providence community in CH is the freaking stop sign on Hualapai and 215 going into Providence during rush hour. They really need to develop that intersection and put in a light.

I went to DR horton on Whisperingsands and Gracious orchard street. (The Orchards) . On the map it seems to be on the edge of CH, so is it in CH? If it's outside of it how's that area? They just started building some houses there. Houses there seem to have bigger lots.

It's not arguing but rather informing people the CORRECT information. Nothing more, nothing less just like you informing people not all of North Las Vegas are ghetto!

Yeah, I get you. I wasn't trying to infer that you were arguing. My mom used to say this: "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig." Trying to teach people that not all of the pretty west side is Summerlin, or that NLV is not all that scary is kind of like teaching a pig to sing. I guess we'll both just keep trying.

Hahaha you see Clark County is known not to have the brightest people around but it does not mean we should represent, besides it is fun to annoy the pigs!!

I had a vacation home in Centennial Hills and now have one very close to Summerlin. I liked Centennial Hills a lot with the new streets, new shopping centers and restaurants. The new feel was cool. The view of the mountains and desert is beautiful. I just didn't like the extra 15-20 min drive ( during all the construction on the 95 over a year ago) to the strip when I was in town. The traffic on the 15 North got old, too. So, I bought another vacation place near Summerlin. I love the proximity to the strip (5-8 min) and how close Red Rocks National Park and the great local's casinos. My vacation home has a full view of the strip and just close everything. It's perfect for visiting Vegas, but I still love Centennial Hills and probably would pick that as my full-time spot if I moved to Vegas. Just being at the top of the 95, the mountain views and open spaces is really nice, too. I think both locations have a lot to offer.

Okay here's a perspective about both communities. Summerlin is planned well, it's in a great spot near Red Rock Canyon. It's also much less diverse than Centennial Hills. As a professional of color, I wanted a diverse area to raise my family in and I frankly did not find Summerlin quite as welcoming as Centennial Hills. When I say diverse, I don't mean just ethnically, but the class divide seems more apparent in Summerlin as well. Now, having said that, it's not quite as bad as some cities, because Vegas has expanded greatly in a more diverse time in the country's history and that is reflected in the diversity of the city as a whole...but it's still evident. The schools seem to be equally decent in both areas, but overall health care and education is poor in Nevada. The recent right wing political swing isn't helping this either.

In a larger context, Vegas is still Vegas, you can have a well paid stripper living right next door to an MD because they are in the same income bracket, so if you move out here, it's best to leave any judgemental attitudes at the city's gates because there are no communities immune to ALL that Vegas is about.

I prefer Centennial Hills personally. We live on Horse Property so obviously our options are limited. Did not want an HOA or a small lot. Have been here 4 years and could not be happier. Views of the mountains and city are awesome, plaenty of grocery stores around as well. If they would just move Montesano's to this side of time all would be great
