I am about to start researching/applying for jobs in the LV area. (Building Engineer). I live in Nebraska but know a couple that is allowing me to use their address on applications. My question is...is this a good idea or should I just use my current out-of-town address? I have heard that having a local address would make it easier to be considered for a job. Any advice is helpful.
Thanks.

I am out of state and haven't had a problem using my local address and getting call backs from Vegas - it seems if you have the experience, they are looking

I would amend that to "if you have experience in a field that is in demand in Las Vegas."

But the HR department still doesn't think the applicant will make it through a summer.

Employers have always gave a hard look at job applicants that live here versus ones that either haven't moved here or are planning on moving here. Vegas is a city you either love it or hate it there isn't much in between. The first year or two seems to be the hardest for people that live here, I am not saying that you'll never find a job here by being from somewhere else. But it can be much harder and besides using a Vegas address you will have to show on your application how long you have lived here. And don't try to lie because when they pull your credit your job history will be there as well.
If you were wondering how unemployment is doing this article can answer that.
