It's expanded past that, to being an entertainment and party Mecca. I think it's displaced NYC as being the dance club capital. People are now going out there, blowing thousends, and not even dropping a quarter in a slot machine. It now has a huge food scene (Scoopy can attest to that.) The hospitality industry out there has been trying to move past gambling, and to a good extent, has succeeded.

^^ Some people really enjoy the themed resorts. Others go to City Center, Wynn, or Fremont Street. There's something for everyone as far as tourism goes. You want old-school Vegas? Binions.

We can't be a one-trick pony anymore. There is too much competition with so many states diving into gambling.

The identity of Vegas is The Strip. No one, outside of locals (or people who want to be locals) care about the residential areas.

Even considering off the strip, quick, what are the best know residential area of metro Vegas? That's easy, Summerlin and Henderson. While Henderson is southeast, it isn't considered the east side. So, no, in no way does the east side have the most identity.

El lado este tiene una identidad mucho.

Sure, the east side has plenty of identity. But that identity primarily speaks Spanish. It's a shame that the schools in this area are so bad. Otherwise, this is a pretty good area for families.
