I'm checking out Centurylink on 7/3/12 for 30 days. If what they say is true and the service is exactly the same as on DirecTV I'll be saving around $40 a month?

CenturyLink is a phone/internet provider. Directv is satellite TV.

I guess I should have explained that I was getting the Prism TV/internet/phone service from CenturyLink as opposed to internet and Phone from CenturyLink and my TV service from DirecTV. The combined cost of the two services is around $105 including messaging, international calling etc from CenturyLink plus my DirecTV bill at around $95 making approximately $200. Forgive me for the approximations. But I figured out that I would save around $40-$35 a month

Wrong. CenturyLink provides TV over DSL in many, if not all of their service areas, just like AT&T does with their U-Verse product.

Well excuse me.

IME CentruyLink is a (crappy) service provider of phone and internet service that also offers the option of bundled service with Directv and the like. I was not aware that they also were a TV service.

I had Qwest as my DSL provider for years and and I am extremely unhappy with the service I have gotten from CL since the changeover. I am counting the days till my service contract with them is over and done with.

You must be in a location where the backbone can not support IPTV so they bundle Direct TV with their phone and data services.

I had Prism. Switched to Directv (through Costco) Prism was nice, but it got too expensive after my promotional time was up. I have said this before on this forum, but I plan on switching every time my rates go up. After my directv is up after 2 years either they will have to give me a deal or I will switch to Cox or Prism. It's not like they offer any different channels or anything.

How many TVs? How many Channels?

What is your cost of TV service now? Taxes on sat is cheaper than tax from cox/centurylink isn't it?
