Thank you for all your help. Yes ill have a car btw. Wow I never knew you needed an ID just to go to the pool lol. Is there any water parks in the area??? (Robynn: thank you for your inputs. Will defiantly try to go to all of those, especially the 2nd one. BTW I found it odd that I had to enter my date of birth just to go to the M&M website lol.)

newopty: Don't have much of a choice. It's the only vacation I'll have this year.

ScoopLV: lol I understand, but I searched for that, found a teen club. Where I live, 21+ means 18-20, 18+ means 15-17, so would this teen club be full of people that is barely in high school (12 and 13 year olds)??? I just wouldn't want to feel out of place since i'm going into college now. I did find a helpful website however (Vegas.com).

kimba01: I like Partridge Creek, wish I could go more but it's too far in the north suburbs for me to visit frequently. Ill defiantly have to check out Town Square. Fashion Show Mall is a place on my list too. Thanks. I heard about it before, someone said it's kind of like Somerset, just hope it isn't as expensive.

Exaday: lol thanks.

How about downtown Las Vegas??? I noticed noone mentioned it yet. It's probably overshadowed by the strip.
I will be ok with anything within a reasonable distance (about 45 minutes or maybe an hour if worth it). Looking at the Las Vegas map, I noticed it is only 2 freeways around downtown and the strip, is it hard to get around the Vegas Metro area in a car??? it looks like it due to the lack of freeways in the main part of a major metro area.

Other than the Fremont experience -- which is certainly something to add to your nighttime itinerary -- everything downtown suffers from the same problem as the strip. You're not allowed to go there. The downtown casinos are just as "no 18-year olds" as the strip casinos.

If you have a car, I would take the opportunity to see all the national parks that are close to Las Vegas. (Close is relative. This is the west after all. We don't think much about driving 300 miles.)

The Grand Canyon for sure. And I'd put Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon right up there with the Grand Canyon. There and back in a day for any of the three is doable. It's a very long day of driving. But worth every minute on the road if you ask me. If you've never been to the Grand Canyon, that automatically becomes number one on your list. It's one of those "every American should see it" natural wonders. But I prefer Zion to the Grand Canyon.

If you're looking for something closer to the city limits, there's Valley of Fire, Death Valley, Red Rock Canyon (our backyard, basically), Mt. Charleston (also our backyard, basically), and the wild horses at Cold Creek (also our backyard, basically).

I don't think clubbing, pool parties and similar is going to work. You might be able to charm your way in someplace. But it's a long shot. Nobody is going to risk their job to let you into a 21-and-over venue. I'd focus on seeing the majestic beauty of the American west instead.

Downtown is kind of eh after the stratosphere

Even if you walk up and down the strip and go in each casino and just look around it's pretty freaking cool. I just remembered MGM usually has some lions on display.

Here... check this out The 18-20 crowd Las Vegas | VEGAS.com

The MGM Lions have been gone since February.

I would also recommend the Mob Museum and for shopping, The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. There is also Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at the Venetian, and the car museum at Imperial Palace.

Ride the XScream on top of the Stratosphere. Its super fun! The view up there is also awesome

Other than going into the casions (I dont gamble), most everything I do in Vegas is okay for an 18 year old. Okay, I'll drink, but I dont really go anywhere that is 21+ only. I think you can even see a lot of all of the properties on the strip because they are pretty amazing to see without even setting foot on the casino floor.

I don't mean this as anyway an insult, I know your're from Detroit and probably know how to take care of yourself, but be careful. Especially if you're alone. Keep your wallet in your front pockt, not the back.

You're not going to have enough time to do everything. You'll be sight seeing and probably wear your feet out.

Sad about the lions. You can go to the Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage and they have lions and the white tigers. It costs, though.

You rode the XScream??? No way would I do that and I don't have a fear of heights...just a fear of falling from those heights!

As far as the Forum shops, if he is hoping Fashion Show mall won't be as expensive as Somerset in MI, the Forums are definitely out of budget for him! But, they are fun to window shop!

Comfortable shoes are a must, especially for a newbie tourist who wants to do it all in a day! I do NOT know how some of the women wear those heels on the Strip!

I missed the comment about expense when shopping. I can't afford anything at Caesars but its so beautiful in there its worth it.

YES I rode the Scream.! My first thought was no way but finally decided to just do it. I was alone so i sat with a cute little teenaged girls and we screamed our faces off...but we had a blast! Our pic at the end was great. We looked really happy! I wanted to ride that claw ride too but it was closed due to high wind.

ScoopLV: Seen the Grand Canyon from a plane omw to LA last year. Never took a trip there though. I'll look up some of the other places you mentioned that is closer though. Fremont street looks interesting. I think ill check that out, didn't know they had a hotel called "The D" there. Apparently the owner is from up here (according to the article I read about it). Anyway thanks.

Robynn: Thanks for that website. Very helpful.

ElleTea: Didn't know they had rides on top of that thing lol. Those museums look pretty good, ill have to do more research on them later. That mall you suggested looks like a pretty good mall. It's right around the corner (only a 16 minute walk). But I hope to God it doesn't have ridiculous mark ups. If I was back home that would be different but not while I have to make a budget stretch for an entire week. I can buy things at upscale malls, but ill just rather not if I have the option to get the same quality for a cheaper price.

Exaday: I won't be alone most of the time. But thanks for the advice. I imagine the strip will have an extremely heavy police presence. But I know you still have to be careful.

You all are very helpful.
