Are these normal in Las Vegas? I found a perfect apartment - but they want me to pay $120 cleaning fee. Just wondering if this is common....or if these are rip off charges.

I don't mind paying it, but only if it's for a justified reason.

Isn't the cleaning fee deducted from the deposit when you move out?

Boy you are good at finding unusual situations.

It is normal to collect a cleaning deposit for when you leave. They are normally refundable if you leave the place clean. I have never heard of a cleaning fee moving in. If it is not clean don't take it.

Back in apt renting days, when we first moved to Las Vegas, we had to pay a $75 carpet cleaning fee before moving in. So, yes, they can charge for that. Although $120 seems a bit high.

I'd be sure that it was spotless to a white glove test when I move in, and see that the details of this fee are well-documented in the lease agreement. If they're allowed to do this by law, so be it, but that place better be sparkling at move in!

That actually sounds a little low to me. Is it refundable if you leave the place clean?

Yes, it was refunded to us after we moved. This was over 8 years ago, so I guess the price to clean an apt went up a little.
