~*~ I know the perfect person for the job. He was a plumber for over 25 years and is competent in the other type of work that rehab jobs entail. He is in his 3rd semester of college now since the construction business went ka-poo-ee and would need to work around his classes (he only has 3 and 1 of them is at night). ~*~

Yes, that's the one MadMan. It closed today. So, I'm an official Nevada home owner as of today. Home inspector seemed to think much of the water damage was from sprinklers against the house, but also found faulty valves and some leaks in addition to having too high water pressure coming into house. The other plumbing stuff besides the leaks, would be the usual stuff associated with remodeling, like changing out sinks faucets, toilets etc. I also want to look into having a water softener installed and RO under sink. So, there's a number of things involving plumbing. House is in Green Valley area. It's a fixer (in my eyes anyway) Needs just about everything, but at least when it's done, it will be to my liking.

Not directed at you MadMan, but in some peoples response, I can't help feel that I should be ashamed for asking such a thing. Like it is unreasonable of me to want to find a cheaper alternative for all the work I have to do in my rehab. I would think most people who need to watch their pocketbook, would do the same. But maybe not in Vegas.

As far as I can tell, in Henderson you DO need a permit for a water heater and softener, but I don't think you need to do more than go down to City Hall and obtain one for yourself. Not sure who, if any party, is responsible for the inspection ($$) after the install, if not using a licensed contractor??

I would think if it requires a permit (more money for city) and an inspection, as long as the job was performed correctly, it shouldn't matter who replaced it. If a homeowner wants to replace his own hot water, he is not allowed to?

Still need a permit. I think it started over making sure they got earthquake straps.
