Anyone know what is the status on the I-11 project from LV to Phoenix?

Well, it's still technically in the future plans, but don't hold your breath that it will actually happen anytime in the next ten to fifteen years. And, when and if it is built it won't really go to, or through, Phoenix, but rather Buckeye, which is west of Phoenix. The plan is for it to originate at Casa Grande, about 35 miles southeast of the Valley.

The only place they really need a freeway type road is to go around Boulder City, Wickenburg and then a quicker way to a freeway once close to Phoenix. Do those 3 things and an interstate wouldnt make much difference in time. n rather question the idea of tying into some new inland trade route. I cant see some important new port and highways being built in Mexico, nor are enough products coming from Nevada and Arizona. To me it feels like these ideas exist because Harry reid and John McCain have been in powerful positions in Congress for a long time.

Dead. Road projects are being shut down all over the country. The stimulus money dried up and there is no local or state monies to fund them.

I take it the same way I take news about each newly-proposed proposed Las Vegas sports complex project: I will believe it when the first concrete is poured. Until then, don't bother me with hope and rumor.

They just need to get rid of the short speed trap which I am sure is just a way for Kingman to make sure they get a financial benefit from being between the two cities.

Ive only done the drive a few times, but I dont find it to be that big of a deal. It's actually quite relaxing. The only part I dont care for is right on the edge of Phoenix is some suburb with a ton of lights, but once through that even the two lane parts are tolerable. How much time would the interstate save?

If Reid was willing to do anything for NV, he'd get this done.

I've been doing that drive most of my adult life and currently reside in Kingman. It has gotten much better over the years. To me the only bad part now is just north of Wickenburg. If they can get that to 4 lanes then it will be mostly freeway anyway. A hint on the section approaching Phoenix from the north - take the left turn off for Lake Pleasant just south of Wickenburg which then intersect I-17 just north of town about 25 minuts later. I can't remember the SR number but I have been doing that for decades and it still seems the best way into the central city and freeway system.
