Nope, the I-94 isn't the Customs Declaration form. It's a Dept of Homeland Security Form OMB No. 1651-0111 that states right at the top: "This form must be completed by all persons EXCEPT U.S. Citizens, returning resident alients, aliens with immigrant visas, and Canadian Citizens visiting or in transit." So now I've got an email sent to CBP to ask how we can get this form, even though we don't need it for any other reason than the DMV in Nevada! Arghhh If anyone finds out anything else, please post...Thanks.

This is what I got from the CBP US Customs and Border Protection today:
Response (Mark)11/08/2012 11:00 AMUsually Canadians do not get an I-94, but you can ask for one from a CBP officer when you enter the US, and there is a $6 fee for it if you cross the border by land. I hope this answer helps.

We were able to get one but it is not easy. You have to get a I-94 from the CBP officer which took a little bit of explaining as to why we wanted them. Once you get to the DMV the fun really begins the I-94 works but it is dated 6 months from when you had entered the US so they wanted to only give us a 6 months ID instead of the regular 4 year. We were lucky and had a supervisor who allowed the 4 years but with comments on the application. When the person was filling in the form on the computer it doesn't allow Cnd address so he called over another front line worker and she said it wouldn't work. He than stopped another supervisor who started saying it was the 4 years that was the problem so we had to explain again that we only got the I-94 for the DMV she than allowed our US address for both the primary and secondary address and it worked. The agent was nice enough to walk us over to the photos as they double check the work and we would have had to start all over again. The best part was they didn't ask for any other ID or proof we had a US address. Hope this helps others

Wow - it sounds like you've been through a lot of work to get your seasonal ID but it sounds like you were successful - good for you!

We have just bought a condo in Vegas in November and I will be going down in March to spend a couple of months. My question is.....what are the benefits of having a seasonal ID? Were you wanting it primarily to get locals' discounts or are there other good reasons for wanting one? I'm just wondering if I want to, or should, go through all the time and effort that you've put in.

Thanks so much!

Congratulations on getting your local I.D.

We have tried to get an I94 when we go through customs at Calgary a couple of times, and each time we were given a rough time.
Any advise would be appreciated

I don't know if the Seasonal ID is worth all that work. I got mine almost a year ago and still have not used it.
I probably won't renew it when the renewal comes up but that will probably be irrelevant since I will have a Nevada drivers license by then.

Looking at the discounts at spas, resturants and shows I'm sure we will more than save the 12.00 and couple of hours we spent on them.

For the Canadians we had to explain to the CBP agent that we wanted to receive the discounts avaiable to locals and that the DMV would not accept any forms of our ID other than a form I94 and passport. I think we were lucky at both the border as well the DMV.
