Sam Nazarian seeks to cater to high rollers around the world - latimes.com

Interesting to see what happens on the North side of the Strip. Isn't the empty lot across the street also becoming a large concert venue?

the empty lot across the street IS owned by mgm & at one point they wanted to build city center 2 on the site. wouldn't surprise me if this is where they end up building their large concert venue.

the article doesn't hint when sls will open....

The one you are referring to is right across the Luxor which is also owned and being developed by MGM as a concert/entertainment venue.

Officially, SLS is slated to open Fall 2014.

If anyone can pull it off it's Nazarian. Having said that, most big Strip projects run 3 to 6 months behind schedule. I'm betting Nazarian wants SLS open in time for New Year's.

When are they going to do something about the huge eyesore (Fontainebleau) on the corner? I drove by last week and it reminded me of Lebanon @1982!

I walked by there 2 weeks ago and noticed they've (re)placed a working crane on the far West end of the building. And, they've removed another vertical column of glass windows on the North side. I'm not sure what it means, but rumors persist owner Carl Icahn is ready to sell it for scrap. Officially, an aide of his was recently quoted as saying Icahn wants to sell the property and everything on it as a package.

I would exercise caution walking near that site when it's windy, I saw a piece of the facade dangling down and flapping in the wind just above the pedestrian walkway.

based on today's lvrj article, the large concert venue is not going in across the street from the new sls resort. it will be inbetween nyny & monte carlo on the backside. it's in an article that has nothing to do with sls, so i wont' like to the off topic article, but here's the info on the concert venue:

"MGM Resorts International’s proposed $350 million 20,000-seat arena slated for a site between New York-New York and Monte Carlo just off the Strip"

That could be a major pay day for some "lucky" individual.
