Would you consider these homes in the valley? No HOAs just like you like them.

The dome, hell yeah.
The second one probably needs to be torn down and rebuilt.
I prefer fixer uppers actually. Gives me a chance to do what I want with it. If they are nice to begin with I won't mess with it too much.

Default Maybe

That dome has potential
Then again I am a bit of a weirdo, I doubt the wife would go for that .

I bet #2 is way below 100K.

I believe the KEY to getting a good VALUE is time.

Desperation is expensive!

Yeah. I tend to go through cars (had 52 in 11 years) I like to work on cars. I'm not big on manicured lawns. Not that I am a slob or anything but if I want to leave an engine on a stand outside over night, I don't want some higher than thou, self appointed "President of the hoa" knocking on my door at 6am.

Had a run in with the "president of the hoa" in a townhouse a few years ago, rental by the way. EVERY day she was complaining about something, knocking on my door.

I have some friends who have been forced to sell cars because they didn't fit in the garage per hoa rules.
Legal, registered, licensed, and insured cars.
My uncle was fined almost 3,000 dollars when he went on vacation and the grass got over 3.25 inches.

So yeah, I will never mess with a hoa.

I like mine. I personally would not want a mechanic living next door to me with unregistered cars in the driveway/yard.. I want to live in a nice, manicured neighborhood, not a junk yard. But that's why there's the option here in the valley. Everyone wins!

All my cars are registered.

I don't have any of these any more but I caught hell for having them. All were running, driving cars, fully road legal. Not junk.

Nothing wrong with your love for working on vehicles in your front yard. It's just better if you also had neighbors that shared the same hobby as you and also liked to tear up the front yard. I recently had a supervisor that retired from Nellis. He owned over 8 vehicles, four were in the middle of being restored. He hated living on base as well.

And I didn't mean to come across as a douche, I also love restoring cars.. I have had 12 air cooled VWs that I restored from the ground up, then switched to British before I realized there was no hope for the British You just know the scenario.. one guy has 2 cars, the next guy has 4, and pretty soon you've got Jed Clampett out there drinking Busch and tuning up his '84 IROC at 3am. I am betting that if you worked on 1 at a time you could live wherever you want without fear of harassment.

Sure, there are the $600 per month, armed security guard at the gate, roving security, does your landscaping type of HOA. But those are the exception.

I'd take the free house.
You, your MIL and your aunt probably wouldn't want to live next to extremeatheist either. So you're lucky s/he's passing on the free house.
