Needed to purchase insurance, and looking at the new plans offered on the Exchange (Nevada Health Link), I see the only plans available are HMO plans or some POS (point of service) plans offered by some obscure companies I never heard of. No PPO plans available. The HMO Plans usually have very limited doctors to see, as they pay the least.

Anyone have any experience with a HMO or POS plan here in Nevada? What company is it? How has it worked out for you as far as doctors go?

Stay as far away from health plan of Nevada as you can get. Blue cross blue shield not bad.

And you'll find the HMO doctor's offices beyond crowded, and you'll find you're not going to get the best of doctors either with HMO coverage.

POS plans combine elements of both HMO and PPO plans. Like an HMO plan, you may be required to designate a primary care physician who will then make referrals to network specialists when needed. Depending upon the plan, services rendered by your PCP are typically not subject to a deductible and preventive care benefits are usually included. Like a PPO plan, you may receive care from non-network providers but with greater out-of-pocket costs. You may also be responsible for co-payments, coinsurance and an annual deductible.
