Finally someone who gave the correct name for what we called a chipmunk in the Adirondacks NYS vs what they are called out here. Grey and Red squirrels live in trees or in your attic which you do not want lol vs Ground squirrels hence they live in the ground. So red or grey squirrels do not populate they LV area but I am sure they do at higher elevations because they have more of a food supply to live on. Now you know how the Name for Chip Disney cartoon star got his name short for Chipmonk . I do not know what this has to do with living on the East side of LV lol

Actually not a chipmunk but a Harris ground squirrel. There are local chipmunks including the Mt. Charleston chipmunk found no where else. If you go across the dam you will see a similar creature but little different...a white tailed ground squirre.

Then of course there are the chip monks. They collect the chips in the collection basket at Catholic Church and cash them in.

We also have pack rats that look like a hamster that got in with a bad crowd. Hamster body and a rat tail. You'll rarely see them unless you live next to a desert lot or gulley.

Actually what we have is the "white tailed antelope squirrel" the almost indistinguishable Harris variety (darker tails) live on the other side of the Colorado river.
