There a ton of dentists here. Just drive down any major street, and you will see 3-4 dentists office within minutes. Most of those dentists need hygienists.

I worked with a woman who had been a hygienist for years and was no longer in the field. She said it was because she didn't speak Spanish. Can't say for sure if this is true or not but it would certainly be a good idea to speak Spanish.

Now that's a silly question don't you think? Of course it is possible. I see one every three of four months and it's not always the same one. I know some work for a dentist full time, but I have the feeling my dentist uses a service, or maybe different contractors only on certain days. We also have a dental school here.

Las Vegas is a large city, so we have opportunities that any large city would have. Dentists practice in towns of almost any size.
Someone cancelled his newspaper subscription didn't he? Clark County hit 2,000,000 in, I think, September of about 2008. Most of them are in the Las Vegas Valley or, if you will, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area. Not that many people in Clark County outside of Las Vegas. If you look at the population that only lives within the actual Las Vegas city limits it will look like this town is much smaller. But what we call Las Vegas is the whole shootin' match.

BTW: It does seem like most people here work in the "Service Industry" - casinos, hotels, restaurants, show rooms, conventions, etc., and a few thousand support businesses; but it ain't so. It only seems like it to a non resident. Gaming, resorts, conventions, etc., is our main industry, but not the only industry. Mining is the second largest employer in Nevada, and I think that's still followed by construction, even though that slowed down a lot in 2008. If you watch commercials on local TV you'd think suing people would be the largest industry though.

No. We only clean our teeth on the bones of newbies to the valley.

I've always wondered how profitable the dentists are in this town, given I haven't been to a dentist here since I moved here 18 1/2 years ago, given the proximity to dental care in Mexico. In Phoenix, for 3 years, I never saw a dentist there either.

I'm not the only one who runs to Mexico for dental work, a few of my co-workers do likewise, either Tijuana or Algodones, 7 miles west of Yuma, with their 30-40 dental clinics there, with lots of Canadians down there for dental work, as well.

To open up a dental clinic in San Diego? Everytime I'm go to Washington Dental in Tijuana, the parking lot is packed with cars with California license plates! The last time I took the Mexicoach bus from Revolution, any number of seniors on that bus, all down there for dental work.

And Las Vegas? I've often wondered what impact this has had on the dental clinics in this city, opting for Mexico instead. Anyone know? Or is it too hard to measure? The greater distance is to their advantage?

I've even heard of those who go to Utah for dental work. Cheaper?
