As some of the long time regulars know, I made the move from Orlando to Vegas in 2010, and left in 2012 for a long list of reasons I won't (and don't want to) bring up...and the urge to go back is stronger than ever...the toxic people I moved to vegas to get away from have not changed one bit...while I was able to jump back into my old job after I left vegas im not making anymore money than when I started and haven't even been promoted and I have become disenfranchised with my work and even borderline hate it.

I do feel I have some factors working in my favor this time around

1) I'm now over 21, easier to find better paying (maybe not $50k+ a year but better than the $10 an hr I make here in Orlando) better paying work, preferably something tipped

2) I have some strip experience and I am hoping to build upon that

3) When (not if) I leave I'll have around $7000-$8000 saved up when I hit the road (I had less than $1000 the first time)

4) A friend I have in Las Vegas who I met the first time I lived there is going to let me stay at his place until I can get on my feet and get my own apartment

5) While I am starting over again, I'm starting over in a familiar city

6) A lot of vices I had the first time In Vegas (mainly women) are under more Control than before

So here are my questions
- I plan to put out some feelers for opprunities on the strip, Id like to at least attempt to find a job before o get out there, how is the job market looking

- What is the unemployment rate like?

- I'm hoping I can either have a job when I get there or land one right away after I arrive, the sooner the better because I plan on using my bankroll to get an apartment, probably in the NW, Centennial Hills or far North Las Vegas (215/5th St). What are one bedrooms going for?

Those are my questions, anyways I'm real excited at the possibility of coming back to Vegas...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

if I cannot find an affordable 1 bedroom in these areas (let's add Summerlin to the list as well) I'll rent a room

Glad you have your women under control. They can be quite a handful. :-)

I suppose I'll be the first to say it -- how is your attention span? Because last time you lived here you had a new plan every 15 minutes. I know that you were grasping at straws and trying to make some sort of life and that didn't work out.

What sort of person is looking back at you in the mirror in January, 2015? Do you have some sort of plan that you will start, work on, and most importantly stick with?

As for your questions, things are better here than when you left. People are more optimistic. The casino life hasn't changed a bit. And if you time it right, you can hook right up with a pool position. It's steady and stable if you're steady and stable. Then transfer over to something else when the season ends. I think you'd make a dandy club bartender, and could make six figures doing it. You'd have to barback for awhile. But that pays well while you rack up the seniority.

For where to live, I'd get one of the nice apartments on Horizon Ridge in Henderson -- lots of people your age that way.

What have you done schoolwise while you were gone? Any plans there? The good thing about the resort world is that it's easy to bolt it on to college life, if that's part of your plan.

I truly hope that good things come your way and that where ever you end up, things improve for you. But if you're the same person that you were when you left Las Vegas, you shouldn't come back. I hope you're not taking that the wrong way. It sounds harsh when I read it. But I wouldn't say it if it wasn't important.

If you are 100% serious about coming back, you can go ahead and get a 702 number(unless you still have it). Also you can start putting your friend's address at the top of your resume. This way you will be back to being a local before you start applying.
