What visitors and locals should be asking is what happened to the observation deck at the Stratosphere? The once 360 degree views around town is gone and blocked off because of the thrill rides on the outdoor observation deck. The indoor observation deck never had the 360 degree views even when they first opened so I'm not complaining on that.

This past year, during the Summer it was free to get up to the tower but I never bothered and the derelict Fontainebleau also ruined the view of the Strip, a monstrosity.

Yeah, and he's standing at McCall's bar - the most upscale one on the main level at Stratosphere. They have excellent steaks and service - but I prefer the Italian vibe at Fellini's. My wife likes the ambiance of Top Of The World for special occasions.

Other good restaurants at Stratosphere include Roxy's - with American comfort food (burgers, shakes, etc... in a 50's setting. And, there's a little Mexican place stuffed upstairs in a corner of the mall (El Nopal) with surprisingly good food - I really like their steak nachos and salsa bar.

Stratosphere has one of the best happy hour deals - $19.99 for all you can drink draft beer, well drinks and Margaritas for four hours every night from 6-10 p.m. at the C-Bar.

Bill

All of the free stuff in this town eventually gets replaced with something that generates a profit. I wonder how long the FSE and fountains will last?

So the Stratosphere wants to cater to the budget crowd? This could be good for business. Maybe a new trend? Last time I was there a friend of mine paid almost $10 for a hotdog. Let's see if they change their ways.

I asked for a beer at one of the places on the strip, I forget where. The bartender said "10 dollars"
I said "Never mind"

The first time my wife and I went to the Tryst, I went to order a Long Island and Corona. I gave the bartender $20 then waited for my change. The bartender held her hand out waiting for $4 more. I wasn't accustomed to the strip ways at the time.

The canopy at FSE need major overhaul as far as the light show, boring really and the fountains will stay, specifically the Bellagio fountain for as long as we have water in Clark County. The fountain show at Bellagio is a major attraction in town.

I think I read that the fountain will stay as long as the casinos can charge a premium for any room the faces it. (And as long as there are not any major updates/renovations needed as told by an engineer parent that works there from my soccer coaching days)
