My mistake, too early in the morning. But you still have around 63% probability of winning on each spin.

If all of these math theories were correct don't you think folks would be betting their life fortunes and winning all of the time ??? Sorry Charlie you ain't no Tuna the casinos have it all figured out that is why they can afford to be fancy and big we pay for it. The only other way you can gain a slight advantage is to find a European Roulette table which has just one 0 not 0 and 00 again ODDS rule it is the risk factor of the player which makes us think we can beat the odds but in reality it is pure Luck. Sometimes you are the Pigeon and sometime you are the Statue.

You're never going to beat the house banked games by betting systems alone. The one exception was blackjack, and the casinos figured that out and put in place the changes necessary to stop it.

If you want to make money playing in a casino, learn to play poker, and learn when and where the players are the weakest.

i know this was an april fools joke, and i bet it fooled a few people believing that it was serious but...

every time you make a bet with a negative expectation, you lose... every spin on roulette isn't dependent on what happened prior, so conditional probability is irrelevant

in almost every instance, they pay you less than what your actual expectation was... otherwise they'd break even...

in laman's terms, this is how the casino makes money on games that seem close to 50/50:

-roulette, if you bet red or black, they make money when it lands on 0, or 00..... 1/37 or 2/38 spins or whatever

-blackjack, you bust and the dealer busts. house wins

-paigow poker, IIRC it's a push when you win one side and either lose or tie the other side vs house wins if they win one side and tie the other

Who cares? Almost everyone realizes this and they still play because gambling is FUN. Losing is mostly expected. Why people like you have to go on math rants about it? Have you forgotten how to have fun?

If it is so much fun, why not download one of the millions (and that is no exaggeration, millions) of PC/phone/digital watch/Xbox casino games and play at home with absolutely no losses?

You could even buy a bunch of alcohol and cigarettes and recreate the casino experience by chain smoking and giving yourself "free" drinks. And then you can hire someone with a strobe light and an electronic beeping machine. Have the guy blast you with flashing lights and beeping sounds.

And although that last paragraph reads back sarcastic and snotty as hell, that's basically what those of us who don't understand the "fun" aspect of casino gambling think about it. Stale smoke, drunken foolishness, blinking lights and beeping machines, while handing over hard-earned money to a group of billionaires. How is that "fun?"

Seriously, why not just play at home? The virtual gambler loses nothing but time.

I think that for the most part, gamblers deep down think the "fun" part of gambling at a casino is acting like a big shot. Gamblers get fawned upon, as long as they keep dropping that cash. It's kind of like some bizarro-world spa treatment for people who are bad at math. "They pamper me. They feed me. They give me hotel rooms and free drinks and show tickets. And all I have to do in return is throw money at them." That's where the limbic system takes over and overrides the left side of the brain (and much of the right, as well).

I didn't fall for this one. I think I got everybody last year with my thread praising Metro and the weather.

We will have to try harder next year, Scoopie.

The funny thing about this thread is that Scoop has probably been counting the days for months so that he could post it. He has already admitted that he has a better post planned for next year and so now he will spend the next 362 days waking up each morning and thinking, oh I can hardly wait, just xxx days left til I can make my next AFD post, this is going to be awesome.

Almost as pathetic as someone who enjoys real gambling and socializing with real people from all over the world.

I have had plenty of fun in Vegas without gambling, buying drinks, smoking, or any of that crap.

That being said, none of my other choices are beneficial, so there's that.
