It is a mecca, how else do you explain a place which is growing faster than it can handle despite not getting to tell people they can put the snow shovel away? People in Denver are up in arms over the number of new residents and the impacts they are bringing. And Denver and Colorado in general arent trying to do things by being cheaper than the competition by saying we wont raise taxes for any reason. It's hard to effectively manage growth, but it sure works better when the problem comes from importing too many higher paid people who are pushing costs up as opposed to Vegas drawing too many low paid people who think they have a better shot in Vegas than in California.

However I got a job opportunity I could not refuse so I spend more time in Vegas again, but I have no doubt its just temporary and I will be heading back to Denver in the future. Vegas is just never going to change much, I have come to accept this.

I don't have much faith in ANY poll, especially ones that are phone based. They all have so much selection bias that they only get the opinion of a small sliver of the population. A phone poll is only going to represent the opinions of people who
  1. Still have a land line phone
  2. Don't know how to use caller ID
  3. Want to share their opinion with random strangers
I know very few people under 40 that still own a land line phone. Even my retired parents are thinking about dumping the land line.

Gallup...

Quote:
Gallup includes cellphones in each national Gallup poll. Gallup has been including cellphone-only households in all national telephone Gallup polls since January 2008. Further, cellphone-only households are now as likely to fall into national Gallup polls samples as those living in traditional landline households.
The whole polling industry pretty much includes cell phones and there are long technical articles about how to do it correctly.
