Which is a good bank to open a regular no frills checking account in Vegas? I know BOA is there, but I don't like them.I was part of TDbank here in the east coast, but they dont have branches there.

How about Bank of Nevada? How is their customer service?

I use America First Credit Union, they are great. I don't pay fees on any of my accounts and have free checking. $0 checking minimum, $25 savings minimum. The cash back I get on their Visa credit card isn't as good as AMEX Blue Cash, but the interest rate is low if you carry a balance. Same deal with the check reserve interest rate. Obviously your interest rates are dependent on your credit score.

Luckily for me they took over Community One right when I moved here from Utah (where they are based out of).

Bank of America and Wells Fargo are going to start charging $5 per month to have a debit card, so if you are planning on using a debit card you may want to avoid them. That said, you can avoid those fees by paying for everything on credit and paying off your credit card each month.... Which you should do anyway if you have good credit because you can get free rewards (like cash back or other promos).

Chase has treated me very well. I wouldn't wish BOA on my worst enemy. That being said, if I had a choose right now I would probably pick more of a local bank.

Go with a local credit union like AM First but never skip out of free money meaning open at Chase with $125 bonus for new customers then after the 3 month or so requirement close the account. You'll get another chance for $125 the next year.
Bank of America is the plague so I'd stay away from them. Same goes with Citi, Wells and so on. If you want another smaler bank option there's also bank of the West which has limited number of branches but usually no lines.

Looking at the website, Bank of the West seems to be close to where I will be working. I might just go with them. I like small banks.

I'm better off putting my money in a brown paper bag and burying it my yard. I can't believe the fees these banks are charging!!!

This is prob the best advise there is right now.

Keep your money in a local bank, and away from the global giants.
