You should be use to people not obeying laws in CA. I am in the Bay Area right now and can't wait to get home to Vegas.

I don't worry about that. Las Vegas is now the capital of pornstars. I have budgeted for 1 pornstar/week ($500-1000).

Thanks guys...just trying to pump myself up a bit and start counting down the days
Vegas is in the top 25 cities in the USA.
With that being stated, LA County is number 1, because there are tons of jobs, best weather on the planet, tons of things to do, best place for singles because of the abundance of single people, great places to eat and get entertainted, great beaches, and again and most importantly, a lot of work.

Vegas is not good if you have a family, and those that raise their kids here are delusional.

If you are single and responsible, I would say Vegas is good for a few years to save some money and enjoy life a bit.

If you are serious and more focused, LA is the easy choice. Don't pay attention to the cost of living situation, becuase its BS. You can rent for a decent price in LA. Now you say LA, and LA is great, but seriously Pasadena area is the best place in Southern California, or Hermosa/Redondo/Manhattan Beach/Huntington Beach area. The rest of it is so so, but there are so many great places to visit.

Vegas is just to dam hot in the summer, and the people here are not well educated as they are in LA. Also, there are more party types in Vegas, and more scammers that want your money here. LA has that too, but they are not as open about it. LA is so much more sophisticated, and offers more personal development opportunites than a limited Vegas (poor schools, colleges here), which offers a great quality of life for those that just don't want to grow personally, yet have a great and cheaper quality of life. Trust me, you will have fun in Vegas if you surround yourself with good people and are responsible, because it is 24/7 and easy access/no traffic.....

good luck.

Just come out here in February or October. Walk around, it doesn't matter where, as long as you are outside. Heaven.

No doubt the weather is great for 9 months of the year (june, july, august, no good). la is good all year around, and without the dummy people, for the most part.

I think LA weather sucks, personally. But I like dry 100+ degree temps. Los Angeles gets 15" of rain per year on average. We get 1/3 of that. For me, THAT is perfect weather.

If your main consideration is dollars and cents, you'll love it here. Las Vegas is a cheap town. Taxes are subsidized by the gamblers. We are an anti-education town so school spending is fairly low. We don't have to deal with landslides, wild fires, blizzards, frost heaves, earthquakes or hurricanes -- so disaster spending is nil. Although we might run out of water* in the next decade. So there is always that chance of total loss.

Other things to consider:

1) Do you smoke? (you'll love it here)
2) Do you gamble? (you'll love it here)
3) Do you enjoy seeing classic rock concerts? (you'll love that, too)
4) Alcohol or drugs? (plenty of that here)
5) Religious? (we have lots and lots of churches)
6) Right wing/libertarian? (This is a very, very conservative town. Just read the R-J. The editorial staff is just a cheesy mustache away from being fascists.)

So, Las Vegas is an anti-education, pro-vice, religious, right-wing city with low taxes, a low cost of living and a summer climate similar to a convection oven.
