Hi I am 38 years old. I am located on in central PA. I am thinking about a career change. I have gone to Vegas twice a year since 06. I like the climate and the weather. I have a BS degree in General Science. I work as a shift lab tech. I make good money but its more of a job than a career. I currently make around 70k a year. I realize I am walking away from a good job, but it might be time for a change. I am looking at options. I have a 401k I can cash out and some money saved. This total is around 100k. This can float me for a while, but I need a plan. I welcome input. I also know the company Olin has a plant out in Las Vegas.

Check out Molycorp on the CA border. They pay well. Not a great commute unless you carpool and live in the extreme south.

You may be quite disappointed in the jobs here. There was a job posted on CL for months for an analytical chemist. For some kind of water quality work. Looked easy. When I checked it out, they were willing to pay $10 per hour.

I'm at Molycorp right now. Took me 55 minutes to get here. Leaving my home about 5:30am.

Isn't Molycorp not doing so well at the moment?

this is just my 2 cents, but cashing out your 401k is a silly move. you need to have cash on hand to move, draining your retirement isn't the answer.
