Haggen grocery chain files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy | Las Vegas Review-Journal

That did not take long. So much for taking on Whole Foods.

I wonder how long it will take to straighten this out?

Haggen goes boom. Leaving all of SoCal.

Haggen to exit Southern California, refocus on Northwest stores - The Orange County Register

Pity. I liked them but the place was a ghost town. I love their house brand fruit juices. Gonna stock up before they close.

The leftist world is just crumbling whereever you look. Yet they keep winning. No wonder people feel depressed!

So a vacant building which will deteriorate the traffic and businesses around it is a good outcome because you dont like their prices? Is it good for those people to lose jobs too?

It's not like anyone was shopping there in the first place, thus it going bankrupt. If there is a market another store will buy the empty store. I would much rather shop at safe way, Fred Myers, wincos, or Hmart. Those stores have good quality products with healthy prices. Haggens is even pricier than albertsons.

What are you suggesting Willy? That people subsidize the grocery store so that plazas have an anchor store?

Not at all, shop wherever you like. If a place isnt for you dont bother going there. But acting like a store you dont patronize closing is a good thing is pathetic, especially considering the employees probably will struggle to find as good a job.

There are many bad strip malls in town that deteriorated when the anchor closed. The fact that these stores were given up on before suggest few will find another tenant so here comes more blight.

I agree. When a competitor is driven out of the market, it's not good. Food4Less was recently shut down, Fresh & Easy is on it's way out, now Haggen. Even if their prices weren't as competitive as other chains, their mere presence will naturally drive down prices.
