Shoot. They should just bring some of those jobs to Las Vegas. They'd save a ton of money on salaries and taxes!

Very interesting. It could be an option for businesses having a hard time finding people due to high cost of living in California. Probably be even better if you worked in LA. Even better if there was an airline catering to these people here from, say, North Las Vegas Airport, or the Hughes Terminal. Getting through McCarran on a daily basis would be a turn-off.

Apparently, the jobs are going to Texas.

Then why is the unemployment rate in Nevada this low?

The article says "Flights between these two cities cost an average of $70 round trip."

That is VERY far from the truth. Moreover, to actually live here & work there, you have to take the earliest flight of the day, and return on an evening flight. Round trip this will cost you close to $300 each day. Less expensive round trips are available, but only at times of the day that pretty much prevent you from actually working in an office.

That's exactly what Tesla did with its gigafactory... unfortunately, they chose Sparks, not LV.

You can get 2 bedroom apartments for way less than 1100 a month.

My wife works in L.A. for 4 intensive days, then 10 days off at home in Las Vegas. She owns her own company and makes her own hours, so she can choose her "commute" hours of travel. Driving is definitely cheaper and allows for her to use her own car while in L.A.

She loves this schedule (obviously) and has been doing it for a few years now. And financially, it makes tons of sense since selling our CA home has enabled us to be mortgage-free. In fact, we now own a couple income properties. If we change nothing, we still come out way ahead every month, but we're still trying to do cut costs even more by getting a more mileage-friendly car and negotiate a cheaper rate for being a regular at hotels/airbnb's (she often stays with her sister and friends too). I go with her sometimes and it's like a mini-vacation.

The more time we spend in Las Vegas, the more we realize how stupid it is to live in an expensive city. $800,000 buys you a dump in any part of L.A. or S.F. that's worth living in.

The "daily" commute in this article doesn't make sense to me though... even if it's only 4 days/week.

I am happy to see this. There do seem to be more jobs available. However....how many people have full time jobs with benefits that pay enough to live on? That's where we are still lacking! I still know many people who are juggling multiple part time jobs who make no money to speak of and have no benefits. And zero time off or vacation. I am not sure one can survive like that forever.
