Just a reminder that those UPS packages left at your front door sometimes walk away.

Here is a video of a thief stealing a package. The homeowner posted it on Nextdoor. It is in a gated community about 5 minutes away from me. Big. Brass. Balls.

What gets me is every year at Christmas time someone robs a church or home of Christmas presents.

It's amazing to me this still goes on with the spread of quality home video camera system. That lady is pretty dang clear in the videos.

I hope she gets caught.

They've been talking about how they believe thieves have developed technology to track where the delivery trucks are headed next and just tail them there.

I've had a package that was worth about $100 stolen before and had to take it as a loss. I made a few mistakes. One, it got delivered when I wasn't there. Two, I ordered from a small company directly from their website. They couldn't afford to eat the loss even to make me satisfied. Three, I didn't use a credit card with any sort of financial backing or reimbursement. Just my debit card.

Part of the problem is delivery companies don't even ring or knock when they deliver a package

I agree! I hate it when they just sneak up and leave the package!

That's one dumb thief who doesn't recognize a Ring video doorbell. Heck, even the kids around here (San Jose) know what they are. This is from Halloween. That kid in the horse head mask stood there and made faces into the camera for about 10 seconds.

I had a Fed-Ex package stolen off my doorstep a few weeks ago. The last laugh is on them...a textbook, "Multicultural Education."

LOL...

Fed EX is notorious with dropping the package without knocking. I never use them. I only use UPS ( slight bias also as I worked at UPS). I live in an apartment complex so if I am not home they deliver it to the office and leave a notice.
Fed EX will not do the same. I have had Fed Ex packages stolen because they drop them at the door. Where I live now to my knowledge this is not an issue. If I know my neighbor wont be home and I see a package I bring it in and let them know when they come home

Best thing is to have it delivered to your work if it valuable or really anytime. You will always know the day it will be deliver although they can't tell you what time. But they follow a route everyday so you can at least have a ball park estimate.

Quality home camera systems just scream out, "Rob us! We have quality stuff inside!"
