Well, my garbage man just told me, we (the west) (spring Valley) are going on Single stream soon.
[Single stream is a 96 Gallon garbage can, that is picked up by a automatic truck once a week]

What about your neighborhood?

Nothing in Henderson as of yet. We just switched to the blue top recycle bin about a year or year and a half ago from the colored crates.

Nothing here on the East side yet but this subject in the news before about 2 years ago. Makes sense business wise for Republic cutting cost and being more efficient with all inclusive trash which is automatically sorted at their sites but the question raised when this was announced was are our rates for trash pick up going to go down because it is only going to be once a week ??? I believe the answer was no!! So get ready for that complaint to be flying around. I wonder what Tony Soprano would have said lol

Not even talk about it here. At least I've got my recycling guys to quit dumping trash all over the neighborhood as they dump the dozens of recycling bins up and down the street.

(Only 1 in 10 houses around here recycle.)

I've had it for years. It's definitely the way to go. Its easy to recycle this way, and the neighborhood looks much better on trash day. If there are odor concerns, you can put stick ups with charcoal on the inside of the lid.

We've (Henderson) been on it for a few years now - trash and recycle. They don't miss a beat, holiday, whathaveyou. Every Monday.

Do you mean one bin for trash and one bin for all of the recycles? I have had that for years in NLV.

Single stream is not 2 separate bins. It is a single bin for all trash and recyclables, and it gets sorted at the Republic plant. I'm in Henderson, and we still have the 2 separate bins, one black top for trash, one blue top for recyclables.

Ok, now I understand. We have the two bin system too. It's a shame we don't have a bin for plant material though
