I'm leaving in January from New Jersey to Las Vegas. I'm traveling with 4 people in a 37ft RV. We have two weeks to get to Las Vegas. What route would you suggest and what is there to see on the way. After spending 4 days in vegas we are off to Orlando.

Take your best route to I-40. Do not drive I-80 in the winter in an RV.

You can cross over to the Blue Ridge Parkway at Roanoke via 581 off 81. Beautiful (but very sharp curves during part of it) drive. We drove about half of it one year and enjoyed it. You can take I-77 south to I-40 at Fancy Gap.

This time of year, I would go 81 all the way down to Knoxville, TN and pick up 40 and head west.

I-40 can be bad too once you get to New Mexico and Arizona. Monitor the weather and if necessary switch south to I-10 and work your way up to Vegas from Phoenix.

Normally I'd agree but 81 can be bad in January. It runs the entire length of the Appalachian Mtns. Check conditions. If the weather is bad, RT 95-85(atlanta)-20-22-40 gives you a more southern route below the mountains.

Yeah, this might not be the year to go that route.

"DURING"? huh?
Oh, and from NJ to Vegas for just 4 days? huh?
And then to Orlando? Are you sure this is a plan or a college stunt by coeds with lots of beer?
