How come Las Vegas is called "Sin City" if prostitution is illegal? Most other places in Nevada has it legalised. It would be awesome if there were brothels or "Go Go Bars" like in Thailand on the Strip. Who else agrees?

Also, marijuana should be legalized like in CO as well.

Until these things happen, LV isn't a real "sin city", it's a fake Disney Land for overgrown kids.

All the prostitutes and weed you can handle are easy to find in sin city. If it's legal it might as well be Disneyland.

Prostitutes aren't that easy to find. They are usually overpriced too. It's not like you can go into a strip club, point at a random ***** and say: "I'll buy that one", then pay with your credit card.

SERIOUSLY?

Its illegal her cause the city makes lots of money off of morons who think its legal here.

Why is it legal in other counties in NV?

I think you can take a road trip to Pahrump to participate. Sin city is a marketing campaign slogan, you really thought its more than that.

No it would not be cool. You don't live here, start a movement to make it legal in your town.

Your opinion of Las Vegas shows very little insight into our laws and what the strip is about.

Like you said, spend your money in Thailand, where they don't think twice about exploiting children into the sex industry.

Don't forget to get your Hep C shot.

Las Vegas is actually a pretty conservative place if you dig down a bit. And it is also considered that legal prostitution may cost more business than it generates. The present illegal prostitution keeps everyone happy. You can get all the sex you want but it is not featured out front.

Pot is now legal in NV. We are in the midst of determining the regulations. Should be up and going by mid year. Be interesting to see if we implement public smoke shops particularly if CO does so.

A large percentage of the business in the casinos comes from conventions. While conventioneers may be some of the biggest customers of prostitutes, legal prostitution would pose problems for the convention business.

In the old days, there was fear that the wives of potential conventioneers would put prevent their husbands from going to conventions in Las Vegas if it had legal prostitution. In the new days, a lot of the convention business is made up of women, and they have a significant input on where conventions are held. So now there is fear in the convention business that having legal prostitution would put them off.

I have to agree with this.

It's the same reason as why are so many other things deemed illegal: Because the majority of the population doesn't engage in them. Then the foolishness continues on to make the naive citizens think their lawmakers are protecting them by passing laws that don't really impact them. And when a good is in demand but deemed illegal, you get all sort of bad actions out it. Like the child prostitution which comes from people basically rationalizing out the situation saying well if I am doing something illegally anyways, I might as well put aside any qualms I have about going after the worse excesses in such acts. Similar to how people who start with marijuana end up with worse substances. Foolish "leaders" point this out as evidence you should not allow marijuana, but reality is if you legalize the marijuana the users usually don't go down this path of rationalization for illegal behavior.

Bottom line is if lawmakers stopped being judgmental and trying to outlaw some activities for no good reason other than they don't like to do them, the world would be a better more balanced place.

Cannabis is legal here. Metro has public meetings on it to inform citizens of their rights regarding it. It's been legal since Jan. 1st. People can't purchase it yet without a card because the pot shops aren't set up for it. In the news at one of the Metro meetings the police advised citizen to grow their own until they could legally purchase it at a facility that sells it. There is a recent article on it in the RJ from the past couple of months.

As for ladies of the night after nearly three years here I saw my first prostitute working Tropicana near the Strip where the locals said you'd find them. I've never seen them before that. There was also a video of three hookers working a corner on the Strip that got into a territorial cat fight in the middle of the street that was circulating recently. Some taxi driver took the video and egged the gals on. It was a knock down drag out brawl.

They're here but I wouldn't want Las Vegas to become Bangkok. I don't mind it being California's night club though.

How do you you know they aren't that easy to find? How do you know they're overpriced?

Are you speaking from experience?

Eagerly anticipating your other insights on Las Vegas.
