City of Las Vegas polling shows many of us are pretty happy...

Las Vegans love living in Sin City, poll finds | Las Vegas Review-Journal

Only bad was schools and even there a significant portion was OK.

Who cares about good schools? We're getting a stadium instead!

In all seriousness. Things are much better here now than they have been in the past eight years or so. I'd imagine most people are happy either due to seeing that or being too new here to hate it.

That is the strip. Not in the City of Las Vegas...and yes we care about schools though we don't want to spend any money on them. Been true in the SW since forever.

I have loved it since we came her to consider moving here, 1999. Never have hated one minute here.

The downturn didn't effect us to the point of hate. Self employed we did have a bump in sales but we ride these out no problem. Sell worldwide so no issue.

What is to hate if you don't have an addiction, didn't lose a job, didn't buy a home you couldn't afford.

It really depends on where you came from and how long you've been here.

Newish transplant from California or NE? You don't have a frame of reference to judge it by. Old timers remember how great it was and how far it's degraded.

If you come from a place where the beatings are twice a day and now that you are here they are only once a day...

I am doing a lot better here than I was in NC or FL. I like that I can go outside and enjoy it most of the year. I like that I can make enough money at work to pay my bills. There's always something to do. Most of the time there's too many things to do. We have pretty much everything here. If we get a Bojangles and Wafflehouse my life will be complete.

Old timers everywhere say that, not just in Vegas. It's part of being an old timer...

I was born here, spent my 20's traveling around trying new places. I came back and can honestly say Las Vegas was special. No other place could be compared. That's why I came back.

Other places change but not nearly so drastically. There was always a very Vegas way of doing things that is gone.

But newcomers are happy with it because it's a little different from where they came from. Of course they aren't TRULY happy until it's EXACTLY like where they came from.

Good point, Zumaboy. I've lived in Denver since 1983, when there was virtually no traffic and housing was affordable... Not any more.
