Never been, but no, it's not "better." Not unless you want small. Part of the appeal of Vegas is that everything is done big. Everything is impressive. There's something for everyone. There are more world class chefs in Vegas than any city in the world, not just the U.S. You can't beat Vegas. If you're trying to save money, and cheap out, well ok fine. Just say, "Laughlin is better if you're poor or on a budget or only care about gambling." I don't gamble, so I don't really care about their slot machines.

I would NOT want to live there or in BHC. I think the people there are strange.
I went to high school in Bullhead City across the river. Back then, Laughlin was literally five casinos and a gas station. And yes, people there are rather different.

The area is starving for resources. Just finding a roofer is challenging, let alone other professions. I know someone who lives down that way.

You might only get a roof done in the middle of the night or in the winter. I could not imagine anyone doing that work in the summer. Back on topic. My wife and I are going there next month for the first time. We have done about everything you can do in the Las Vegas area so we are going to spend a couple of nights in Lake Havasu and then stop in Laughlin on the way back to Vegas. Looking forward to it.

The wife and I go every month. We love the laid back feel, the view of the river, the easy gaming and the drive. The drive might be the best part. If any of you ever spend an overnight, I HIGHLY recommend going down to needles (take needles hwy) to the Wagonwheel restaurant. They have the very best breakfast you could ever want with a bunch of Rte66 memorabilia. I think they slaughter the pigs out back, that's how good and fresh the bacon is.

i enjoy the water activities in Laughlin. However, i hate the gnats/bugs found along the riverwalk; wish they would take care of that.

Best time to go to Laughlin, in my opinion, is in October. Not too hot, not cold. Crowds have thinned somewhat.

To the poster who said that people in Laughlin/Bullhead are "strange". To me, they don't look any different than people who live in other parts of Nevada.

And, trust me, I've traveled the state of Nevada more than many Nevada residents themselves have: been to Reno, Las Vegas, Beatty, Mesquite, Elko, Winnemucca, Pahrump, Tonopah, Fallon, Carson City, Dayton, Ely, Wendover, Jackpot, Gerlach, Minden.

At Laughlin, Colorado Belle, Edgewater, and Tropicana resorts have NO RESORT FEES at all, so the hotel rates are almost always over 50% less per night than Las Vegas. There's such thing as $15 per night with NO resort fee at Colorado Belle on weekdays only (Sunday to Thursday nights).
