In more arena news, Vital Vegas recently posted this:

This looks awesome, but I don't know if it's practical.

This one isn't intended for sports though. It's supposed to have a world-class sound system and be used for concerts. I'm guessing they will need residencies to pad out the dates to make it viable.

If it was small I'd believe it, but 17,500 capacity for mostly concerts seems insane. T Mobile isn't exactly full of concerts as it is. I'm not buying the story about all these concerts which are skipping town because of not having the right venue as we heard with the dome. What artist is really passing up on Vegas these days?

Do it for a 5,000 seat arena and I could see it working. Oh well, LVS and MSG have money to blow, not going to worry if they are wasting it here.

Seems like they just want to get some of the publicity from the current boom.

The artist's renditions are amazing. Wonder what it would cost to cool it in the summer? How many events are there that need to seat 17K people?

Your second point is why I am dubious about it. Something needs to generate money for it in between the few concerts that need a seating capacity that high.
