Intercom. We hear the alarm easily. If I have to be in a different part of the house I just move the inside intercom.

I prefer the laundry in the garage.

It opens up space inside the house.
Most laundry rooms are small. Lots of space in the area where ours is.
I can have a clothes line because of that space.
There is a much larger cabinet for hanging clothes than I could have inside.

Sorry, but doing laundry in the garage is very trashy. I wouldn't even consider a home with a washer and dryer in the garage. Of course, I'm sure we are talking of two entirely different price points.

I first ran into this anomaly in the Southeast. I couldn't believe that people thought it was OK to go out to the garage to wash clothing. Thank goodness our crummy little starter ranch with the ugly wallpaper had a laundry closet.

Thank you all for the input! I think we're going to look for a house with it inside, but if we find one we really like with it outside, the next step will be to see if we can move it. If that doesn't work it'll HAVE to be something we really, really, like! lol

We are living at Sun City Anthem here in Henderson. You should check out both Sun City Summerlin and Sun City Anthem. Houses here are a little newer and the only houses I am aware of that have garage laundrys were converted to the garage because every home here (I believe) has an indoor laundry room. That said, I once leased a townhouse in Dallas TX for about 6 months when I was in between houses that had the laundry equipment in the garage. Dallas has humid summers and colder winters than LV and it really wasn’t bad at all having the laundry in the garage. But, if I bought a house here with the equipment in the garage I would move them into the house just because I like the extra space in the garage for other storage and don’t need a separate home office; the guest room can double for both if I wanted a home office
