Totally agree.

There is a BIG advantage living in a 2 story home while you are in your 50s: the exercise of going up & down the stairs several times per day is great for you & for maintaining muscle mass. We rented a 1 story home for a year, then we bought a 2 story. That 2nd story really helps you with keeping your muscle tone and muscle mass.

I would guess that some builders fail to use baffles and venting to shunt hot air out of the roof. I knew someone who simply put insulation and drywall into his attic. Looked great, but was intolerably hot in the summer.

Not so much, both homes were built within five years of each other.

Thank you all for your responses. I don't know if any conclusions were reached on whether the 2nd story of a two-story house is significantly warmer than a one-story house.
