2006 was a great time to find a job in Vegas. 2008-2012, not so much.

In point of fact, Vegas is probably a good place to be a massage therapist. There are lots of spas in the casinos. This is especially true now that Steve Wynn has "retired".

Is club Drais in Henderson even though it’s on the strip or is that the Grandview at Las Vegas hotel? Are Paradise and Henderson their own cities or counties of Vegas? Does west of 15 and north of Craig have a name ( particular neighborhood)?

As for being licenses as a massage therapist, every state has different requirements to get a license in another state.

I went through Massage school in the mid-late 80's in MN and, back then, there was no state licensing. A few other states don't have it either. I come to NV and I'm forced to start all over, go to massage school to be licensed in NV, to the tune of $14k, because my credentials in MN won't transfer.

Check that out before you move here!

If you hustle, Vegas is the best place you can live. You can make insane amounts of money doing stupid crap.
Cost of living is low for a city although it is rising now.
Traffic is minimal outside of the strip.
The weather is great most of the year.
It's 24 hours.
4 hour drive to the beach or a 45 minute flight.
There's always something to do.

This is why I'm leaving Vegas. It's never recovered from the collapse of 08'.

I would stay out of the Nellis area. There are/was some good buys in that area. We live in N Las Vegas, Pecos, and 215 area. It is a relatively new area, so not a lot of shopping yet but just down the 215 near the 95 you have everything you need. My spouse and I met in DC and loved VA. I being a Texan wanted to go home after 11 years away. Everyone is different. We moved to Vegas in Oct 2017, so we are newbies. We started coming here in 2012 and while I do not gamble I fell in love with Vegas. We would come every year 2-3 times. Like Dean Martin said in the song " I love Vegas when I leave I shed a tear", that was me. We watched prices go up and they continue to climb. I have seen crickets, flies, and giant cockroaches but no scorpions and none in my house. In Texas we had scorpions galore and brown recluses and every other bug you could think of, but then I like insects (not mosquitos or fleas) If I found them in the house I got them in a jar and put them outside. Every place has crime and I have lived in Mexico, Europe, all over the USA and traveled Africa. You remember DC in the 80's. I feel safe here but never let down my guard and I do carry. We do live in a guarded and gated 55+ area. For me, Vegas was the best move I ever made, again FOR ME. We have the Smith Center and there is always something to do or just sit on our front or back patio and do nothing. You hear a lot of locals say "we don't go to the strip" We do! We get a room and stay on the strip or on Freemont and do the tourist things. We love shows and you can sign up for Cheap Seats or House Seats and you can get no cost tickets. You pay 89.00 per year, but like our tickets to Matt Goss would have cost us 79.00 each. No State income tax here, low property taxes. My house in Texas was half the cost of this house and I paid double the property taxes that I pay here. The drivers are crazy, but they were in San Antonio too. Vegas is what you make it and for me it is Paradise.

It's a bit different this time. Houses are going up because there is demand for them, not because subprime loans are being handed out like candy to idiots hoping to make a huge profit.

People are fleeing California because those liberal idiots destroyed their state and can't afford to live there any more.
The construction business is booming. Sportsball teams are trickling in. No state tax either. No BS snow or other natural disasters.

Not saying the economy won't crash again, but I don't think it will be in the next couple years.

Being dual-licensed in massage and aesthetics will help you. Getting a license in one is essential. Medical aesthetics do not pay out here. A gal from NYC who was making bank in medical skincare got much better offers/pay doing the strip spa thing than in doctor's offices.
