First, Station Casinos just made it worse for the players by increasing their poker rake from $4 max plus $1 for the jackpot each and every pot to......... $4 max with $2 taken out for jackpots when the pot hits 30 dollars. Also, and this is big... if there is a flop, the first raked $1 is after the flop NOT when the pot hits ten dollars. One way this comes into play is on quads flopped days. Example, everyone folds to the blinds. The big blind has a pair in his hand and needs to see a flop. Usually the small and big blinds just check it down to the end. The pot only consists of the blinds... so a total of $3. The house takes ONE dollar from that !!! robbers. NO more tokes to the dealers for me period! I mean a $40 pot has $6 dollars taken from it ??? Outrageous!! Now.. does anyone know what the Bellagio takes out as a rake? I heard its up to $5 but NO jackpot dollars taken out. True ??? thank you for any help fellow poker players !! OHH and go BEARS today!!

Poker has never been a big money maker for the casinos. They mostly spread poker to get bodies in he casino to play other games. Yeah, Station is trying to squeeze a little more out if it. If you don't like it, go elsewhere. But poker rooms have been closing because they don't make enough.

I wouldn't take it out on the dealers, who make next to nothing without tips.

Yikes! Don't take it out on the dealers. Think of it this way. They are only taking the extra dollar on the hands that you are playing. Stations is probably trying to figure out a way to combat the stupid way that they pay out their poker promotions. Requiring only $10 in the pot to pay out $500 on quad floppers or some of the other promotions leads to a lot of minimal action, so the house only rakes $2 total out of a pot. The smart thing to do would be to require $30 in a pot to qualify for their promotions or some other tweaks. The Orleans is gladly taking Stations disgruntled players.

Typed up a long post of odds and probability but its not worth it really.Basically the odds of flopping quads when you start with pocket pair is 407/1. Assuming a 1/2 game you're going to stick in your $2 bb at a cost of $814 before you ever win your $500. Of course some times your hand will just win at showdown. But I dont think there's much to be gained compared to always just chopping. You either always chop or never chop. If you're always insisting on playing your bb, the sb will raise you a lot and you'll give up a lot of hands making it even worse value.

Is it really worth bothering?

Tell the guys next to you that you always chop, dont look and just muck it.

Poker dealers do ok.

Most rooms are "no flop no drop" so I am not sure what you are complaining about exactly. Also, there is normally a min pot size to get promo money in my exp.

Be glad they don't rake the $10 pot.

How you even playing a hand to the river for $40 in the pot

Supposedly Stations will go back to the normal rake after the tournament. We'll see.

ON quad flopper day.... if you flop quads you get $500. IF I am in the big blind and everyone folds except for the small blind ( he asked if I wanted to chop), my odds of flopping quads is 407 to 1. I get $500 if if I flop then. Its a positive expectation. Taking that one dollar when there is 3 dollars in the pot is really really bad policy by the casino. The players should just adjust now? How about the dealers adjusting too??? IF they don't like their tips... find another job.MOST people have no idea what raking $6 on a $40 pot does to the game. Almost no one can win with that rake. At least 30 hands an hour are dealt and if on average only $4 is taken from each pot... thats $120 an hour taken out !!!! After 8 hours, thats $960 taken out. Guess what.... if everyone started with one rack ($100 )... there is only 40 dollars left between all the players!! YES, YES, I know... you don't have to play. I'M just showing how crazy it is !!! And that is with NO ONE giving one dollar to the dealers yet. Watch how many times a person sits down with $100... and leaves with much less compared to when he doubles his money to $200. Almost never happens.
