Moving into this area from California and seeing conflicting info on crime maps. One shows its like one of the worst places in the country with 99% higher crime than the rest of the country and one shows the area and its immediate surroundings to be about a C or middle of the pack. Same thing for Centennial Hills. Complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Anyone here familiar with the area? Thanks

If you can afford to live elsewhere, I recommend it.

Just don't go east of there and you probably will be fine with it. That's a pretty convenient spot with lots of retail and job centers around so it is in demand. East of there and it gets rough pretty fast once you get to Rancho. I have a rental house just west of there and its never been vacant for long.

Its so/so I would say. Don't want to leave valuables in your vehicle, your vehicle unlocked or windows cracked. Car theft and break-ins, porch pirates happen all over the valley.

If you can go across the freeway (the 95) even better.

Why that specific intersection? Very close to Rte-95. Not far west of that intersection is Desert Shores, it's very nice. Centennial Hills is pretty nice. There are lots of great areas in Vegas/Summerlin/Henderson. Are you buying a house or renting? Vegas isn't that big, you can figure it out in a week or so with a good realtor. Crime stats are one thing, it should be easy to avoid once you get to know the areas to avoid.

Do several things. One, drive the area you are considering both during the day and later at night. Often the “landscape” changes significantly at night. Look for graffiti on the walls and junk cars in yards.

Then go onto two apps. Crimemapping.com and spotcrime. Enter an address of the area you are considering. Check your specific neighborhood zip code on the Donahue crime map. Some will say it’s dated but to be honest it’s still accurate. Don’t plan on your realtor to give you any opinions they are barred from saying a neighborhood is bad.

Last, but not least take what some posters are saying with a grain of salt. Remember you might be skirting a bad neighborhood and live an adjacent one that’s a little better. You still likely have to shop and buy groceries and gas in the more sketchy part. This leaves you open to street crime, car thefts, etc. Of course these things happen in all parts of town but when you are in higher crime areas you are more likely to experience it.
Do your homework. Just my opinion.

Thanks. That specific area because that is the where the only affordable senior housing is located. Quite shocking how little there is in Vegas and the other few want California prices.

Thanks. I have looked at the area on both those websites and its quite interesting how similar it is to where I am at now. Where I currently live, its a decent area, but you go a few blocks east and it gets bad quickly. Gangs, drugs, vehicle thefts, robberies...looks identical to where we are moving. Decent area and gets bad a few blocks east. Lived here 6 years and never had any issues though. Like you said, you learn pretty quick which areas to avoid, especially at night.

We live in the northern part of Centennial Hills and absolutely love it, very quite and almost never hear any sirens day/night, and never heard of any crime in our area.
