From the article: The first phase calls for a 1.14-mile loop under the LVCVA's expanded conference center campus. LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill said the project carries a price tag of between $35- and $55-million, funded by the group's bonding capacity. The Boring Company expects future expansion of the tunnel would cost around $10-million per mile.

The RFQ was for an elevated people mover about 1 mile long basically linking the existing campus with the new digs on the Strip. One would think that a first priority would be for something that gave people a view.
I'm wondering how the Authority chose something that not only gave no view, but was (from what I see) easily the most expensive and least likely to work.

Like the Elon-inspired boondoggle out in the desert that is eating through hundreds of millions of dollars, I'm thinking that this is another case of getting caught up in Elon's hype.

Also, there were were 7 applicants. It would be nice to see what they were proposing.

The attraction to Elon's hyperloop is that it's FAST.

Why the heck bother for a 1-mile trip??

Reminds me of the Calif "Speed Train". From San Jose to LA, it will stop 8-10 times, will be slower than air travel while costing passenger MORE than air travel. Again, why bother??

Bullet trains work GREAT in Japan, because they travel long distances at 200mph. The CA train won't reach top speeds, due to the number of frequent stops. Smart.

Given that most of the site is at ground level and not built, it would be far cheaper and faster to 'cut and cove' (dig trench, cover trench).
