Glad I'm visiting friends back east since I got a pretty good case of PTSD from the '94 Northridge quake.

What I'm always concerned about, even with a slight tremor, is what does this do to underground water and gas lines? Doesn't this jiggle the lines?

Didn't even realize it until my housemates panicked. Saw the blinds moving a little bit and water in the fish tank swaying. The momentum of the aftershock was really small.

When I was living in NW LV I used to feel tremors all the time while sleeping in bed. I wasn't near the highway or traffic.

Had my first real earthquake living in Portland around Christmas time I think two years ago. Again I feel tremors all the time while in bed here like there but we're also near 13 lanes of traffic.

This one though we were sitting on the couch talking and felt this jolting up and down and the ornaments on the Christmas tree started swinging around. It lasted less than a minute and was a startling bit of excitement. It was like a 4.2 nearby.

I live in the oldest neighborhood of Portland with the Victorian wood houses in South Portland by OHSU. I read about the history of this area and there's a fault line that runs right under these hills along the I5 so that explains it some.

Funny thing we started with an earthquake here and ended with a tornado recently. It was in the NE and it knocked over trees and power lines. They sectioned off five blocks of damage. So weird these things happened during our time here.

The seismologists on CNN said there's a one in twenty chance there will be a bigger earthquake in the same area there soon.

Yes!. Longer and stronger. Actually moved my chair a bit to the side. If it's the same area as before it has to be bad over there.
