*ding ding ding* that's hitting the nail on the head!

By charging for parking it stops those who want a free place to park just to walk around the area and not even go into the casino. No casino operator is going to give away free parking to that segment of the public.

If it were free, there'd be wise guys who park for free in a casino garage then take a taxi to the airport for a flight. Nothing surprises me anymore. The fee keeps out all sorts of nonsense.

If a pay-parking patron spends a bunch in the casino it might be worth comping his parking fee but if the casino doesn't comp a spender that's their choice. There is a cost to build and run those huge garages. A gambler only pays the fee if they park a car in the garage, they pay nothing if they walk in off the street, are dropped off by a bus or ride in on the monorail, etc.
I'm curious about your position on this? The casinos offered free parking for decades.

When they first installed them, I couldn't get their gates to work right half the time and I would push the call button and they'd just open the gate.

The taxi drivers used to offer opinions on it. I did I think a 10 day trip once, no problem. I'm sure people doing this were at least somewhat part of the desire to implement paid parking.
Isn't the fix for this just to have "stamped" parking like they have everywhere else?

I mean...what a joke, and some people fall for it. If free parking is a comp that we need to "earn," how much should I feel obligated to push through the windows to earn a grilled cheese at the crappy coffee shop?
Because that's how MGM pushed it. You could play through $3K-$5K and your "comp" was the luxury of getting to park for free while blowing that money. Ridiculous. Can't even get a free buffet or pack of cigs out of them.

If you were thinking resort fees are going away, think again.

So what makes this guy any more knowledgeable then the guy we posted earlier?

I'd say he looks one step away from homelessness but that would be uncalled for.

He's just reading the release from the Cosmo that says their raising their resort fees. This isn't his speculation. They're actually doing it.
