Last April I saw the pirate guy from Survivor (Rupert?) over by a convention center hotel...I was there for the NAB convention, so I think he was there for that for some reason.

This past April, I was sitting at the Starbucks by check-in at Harrah's people watching and Jon Bon Jovi walked thru...I did a double take because I didn't notice who he was...his haircut caught my eye and then I realized who he was...he was all by himself too, no entorage.

I'm no local though...maybe soon

I work at The Venetian/Palazzo and see celebs all the time. A lot of sport figures. Jay Z = not so nice. Beyonce = very nice. I got to escort Toni Braxton a few weeks back. Cute as hell and super, super sweet person.

I met Kevin James of King of Queens and his now wife at Mandalay Bay a few years back, they were both extremely nice.

I'm not playing can you top this, but I have been here a long time and worked in television, so I just happen to have lots of experiences like these. You all probably have seen dozens of stars around and didn't recognize them in civilian clothes.

I won't tell you who it was as I respect people's privacy, but a while back I was checking into a local hospital for a procedure and a big star was checking in at the same time. I didn't ask him what he was having done as it was none of my business. I doubt if anyone else there recognized him.

When I worked at Ch-3, because of my job, I had the oppertunity to meet just about everyone who ever worked the Strip except Frank Sinatra. But Frank, Jr. used to sit in the control booth with me and shoot the breeze now and then. In fact, a lot of guys liked to sit in there, and a few that really knew TV, like Milton Berle, gave me some good pointers.

A friend came to visit one time and was here for only a day, but he wanted to see Sinatra. I said I can't get you into the show at this late date, but I can take you to see him. Just about the time Sinatra's show let out I took him to the Sands just outside the coffee shop and waited. A few minutes later Frank, Nancy, Frankie Avalon, and other entourage members walked through and went in the coffee shop as I knew they did every night. The guy was impressed as hell. I told him it was just another day in Vegas.

I've seen lots of stars about town over the years, shopping, eating, watching other performers' shows, or doing business...even at funerals. No big deal. They are just people like us and have regular lives when not "on". I have one on my email list that I grew up with. He lives in California with his wife who stared in a popular TV show, and he keeps me up on other stars he knows. Regular folks.

When I was working for the state I would see them come in to the office to apply for unemployment benefits when they were "between gigs". I would usually, quietly, call them over to my desk, and take care of them before anyone realized who they were. But they don't look the same in sweats and no make-up so not many knew who they were. It got so they would ask for me as I understood the business they were in and their needs. One was very sad though. He was a big star that was very sick and died a short time later. He was totally broke and had come in to get proof he wasn't qualified for unemployment so he could get welfare. Broke my heart as I had been a fan for years. Almost the same thing with another lady who had been in a famous singing group. Fame is fleeting, and I have known quite a few who had let their managers steal them blind and leave them totally broke.
