I don't believe kids that age should go past 11:30. I have taught
kindergarten for 10 years and it is a crime what they are trying to do
to these little kids!! They are only 4 and 5 years old. They need
time to play and learn social skills!!

Nope, you have to actually pay for the All day kindergarten, unless you live in the low income areas. Plus, it gets filled up very quickly. I looked into it for my daughter. I had called last April, and they actually laughed at me and told me all spots were already filled. This was for this school year.

If you are in the certain areas around town, the state picks it up. In most areas, I believe you pay $300.00 a month for full day.

Hello - obviously I am late to this conversation, but I'm curious...what are the hours for Full-Day Kindergarten in most schools? I'm just a little blown away by this lol...according to this website http://static.ccsd.net/ccsd/content/ccsd-press/pdf/tuition-based-kindergarten-2013-2014.pdf the fees for Full-Day Kindergarten are $3100.00 which includes the $100.00 registration fee. So, if school gets out @ 3:00? for Full-Day kindergarten...and I dont get off until 430...I have to pay $3100 PLUS whatever the cost is for SafeKey or daycare? When the heck did this happen? Back in my day lol...kindergarten was 100% free as it is a public program. Is this even legal? Anyway, if anyone knows the answer to my two questions please do not hesistate to answer! Thank you!

Regular kindergarten at ALL CCSD schools is FREE. Which is half day. Most schools will let you pick first half(morning) or second half(afternoons), about three hours each. I believe there are a few elementary schools that have FREE full day kindergarden but not many(I could only find one back in 2009).

If you want a 5 year old to go to school all day, then you will have to pay extra for that IF the school even has that option.(not many do)

I think they may be offering more schools with All day kindergarten, I believe they are trying to get a bill passed. See here Full-day kindergarten for the haves and have-nots - Las Vegas Sun News. Not sure if it went through or not.

I would call the school to see what your options are.
