The air quality is as bad as I can remember. It got so bad I couldn't see The Strip. Ugh.

I work north of the city off US 95. It was surreal driving to work today, couldn't see the mountains, and visibility ahead was very limited. Add in getting hit by strong crosswinds, and I had to back off my normal speed.

I guarantee you it's worse up in Reno.

With today's windstorm, hopefully some of that smoke / haze was cleared out.

My eyes burned and I had a big headache while staying indoors yesterday. It was bad, but today the wind did clear some of the smoke out.

The view of the Strip was still a bit hazy but way better than yesterday and I didn't have eyes burning and head hurting like before.

I've been checking the purpleair PM2.5 AQI (air quality index) map for Las Vegas and Henderson over the last couple days. I ride my bike almost every morning - so I like the trend.

I took this picture near my house on September 8th in Salem, Oregon. It was taken at 4:30 in the afternoon.

I live about 20 miles from the Beachie Creek fire that is still burning. Fortunately we had some rain a few days ago and finally have clear skies.

I've personally never seen anything like it in my life. As a former LV resident I would have been happy to have been down there during the worst of it.
