A lot of people in the same boat with driver's licenses coming up for renewal and covid-19.

Got the email notice May 27th that my wife's drivers license was expiring (no online renewal option) and I should have made an appointment immediately.

If wishes were fishes, right?

Decided to drive over and get in line early. Looked up the hours for the Henderson DMV that we always go to on American Pacific Dr and they are temporarily closed. Good thing I checked. Sahara? Probably crowded with long lines. Never been to the Decatur DMV I figured - give it a shot.

They open at 8 am and we got there into the appointment line at 6:45. There was a shorter line for those with appointments, and a sign that said starting next week if you don't have an appointment you're out of luck.

We were around 10th in line. Workers started at the head of our line with a clipboard moving back toward us and when they got to us she noticed my wife's DL expired next week (7/23) so she wrote down our info and said someone would call with your appointment. We were out of there in a few minutes after 8.

They called a few hours later and we have an appointment Tuesday morning next week.

If you try to make an appointment right now for Decatur, Flamingo, or Sahara, the earliest I saw as Sept or Oct!

It's all just a cluster**** at this point.

I move here from CA on 3/1. I drove here in my RV. Those plates expired on 3/26. I had my daily driver car shipped here later. Those plates expire at the end of this month. I "non-opped" both in CA for $22 each - no way in hell I'm paying them $1000 for reg if my vehicles won't be operated there. Currently have a 9/8 DMV appt here to get my NV license and both vehicles switched over. I hope I'm doing this right; I believe the deadline is 9/15.

Re: 60-Day Driver License/ID Extension – Revised September 10, 2020

To: Eligible Nevada Residents

Due to continued restrictions on Department of Motor Vehicles services resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the DMV has issued an automatic extension of certain DMV documents that have an expiration date of March 12 through November 12, 2020.

The automatic extension applies specifically to any non-commercial driver’s license, non-commercial instruction permit, driver authorization card or identification card.

The extension begins on the date of expiration listed on your license or ID and runs through November 12, 2020.

You should carry this letter with your expired non-commercial driver’s license, noncommercial instruction permit, driver authorization card or identification card at all times as proof of eligibility for the automatic extension.

This extension does not apply to a commercial driver’s license or learner’s permit, vehicle registration or any other DMV document.

Please visit the DMV website at dmvnv.com for updated information.

DMV to Offer Most Drivers License and ID Card Renewals Online and by Mail This Fall 7-28-2020

Seniors 65 and older receive an automatic driver’s license extension immediately

...drivers 65 and older, who have to renew in person, have been granted a one-year extension on driver’s license renewals that is effective immediately.

Drivers age 65 and older must renew in person every four years but seniors who hold an eight-year identification card are eligible for the alternate renewals.

Under the one-year extension for senior drivers, drivers are still required to renew on time if possible. The extension is to allow time to schedule an appointment. Drivers will be exempt from late fees for one year. Drivers should print and carry an extension letter from the DMV website, dmvnv.com, until they have successfully renewed their license or identification card. New licenses will not be issued and the expiration date will not be updated in the driver record.
